We met with the Institute director and discussed the challenges students face when learning about the stock market? They mentioned how real-world trading involves risk and students often lack both funds and experience.
Well, that conversation sparked an idea! We decided to create a paper trading application specifically for educational purposes. Here’s what we came up with:
Learning Without the Losses
We built an application that simulates the real stock market experience, but with a twist: students use “fake coins” instead of real money. This allows them to explore different investment strategies, buy and sell stocks (Indian and international!), and even set stop-loss limits – all without risking a single penny.
Data at Your Fingertips
Powered by our custom API, the application provides students with access to live stock data. They can check details of individual companies, get in-depth views of specific stocks, and make informed investment decisions (virtually, of course!).
Expanding Knowledge Horizons
We understand that learning goes beyond just numbers. That’s why we included a dedicated “Learn” tab in the application. Here, instructors and publishers can share valuable learning materials like articles, videos, and even audio recordings. This fosters a rich learning environment where students can access diverse educational resources.
Keeping Track of Progress
Students also have a dedicated profile section where they can manage their information and track their investment journey within the application. This allows them to see their “fake coin” portfolio performance and identify areas for improvement.
Behind the Scenes
The entire application was built using a combination of user-friendly tools like Flutter, AWS, HTML, CSS, and Figma. We followed the Kanban development process, which helped us deliver the project within a 3-month timeframe.
We’re excited about this application’s potential to Help students and make stock market learning more accessible and engaging.
